Mrs. Lillian “Lil” Virginia Barry, age 81, of Pine Ridge Rd, Blairsville passed away Monday, October 17, 2011, at Union General Hospital. Mrs. Barry was born July 25, 1930 in Ozark, AL to the late John and Evie Campbell Matthews. She moved here in 1993 from Tampa, FL. Surviving Mrs. Barry are: her husband, Thomas A. Barry, Jr. of Blairsville, daughters, Pamela Berndsen of Tampa, FL, Cynthia S. Barry of Sarasota, FL, son Thomas A. and Debbie Barry, III. of Lisbon Falls, ME, brother, John and Evelyn Matthews of Hollywood, FL, grandchildren, Thomas Austin Barry IV and Stephanie Moncada, great grandchildren Alex, Michelle and Nathan Moncada. A service, for family and friends is scheduled for Saturday, October 29th at 11:00 a.m. at 1420 Pine Ridge RD, Blairsville, GA 30512. Mr. "Jack" Thomas Scherette Sr. age 64 of
John Abernathy Rd. Blairsville formerly of Palm Beach County, FL. passed
away on Friday Oct. 14, 2011 at his home following a brief illness. Mr.
Scherette was born on Oct. 22, 1946 in Quincey, IL., the son of the late
Orville George Scherette and the late Dorothy Phillips Scherette. Jack
was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Dead Eye Dick
Hunting and Fishing Club. He was employed with Arnies Auto Service for
several years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Howard. Jack
was a loving father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Surviving Mr. Scherette two daughters, Peggi Pearce of Blairsville, Tawni Barley of Moorehaven, FL., one son, Thomas Scherette Jr. of Palm Beach Garden, FL., three brothers, Randy Howard and Roger Howard of Prairie Grove, KS., Don Scherette of Idaho, three sisters, Kathy Williams of Las Vegas, NV., Danita Browns and Cindy Bradey both of Prairie Grove, KS., six grandchildren, Eric Pearce Jr., Ryan Pearce, Cheyenne Pearce, Timothy Scherette, Angelique Scherette and Brice Scherette, one great grandchild, Conner Pearce, many other relatives and friends also survive. Mr. Phillip Wayne Couch, age 41, of Chicken Pit Rd. Young Harris, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23rd at his home following an extended illness. Wayne was born in Gainesville, GA on July 23, 1970. He loved to hunt, loved reading his bible, held several offices in his church and taught Sunday school. Wayne had worked as a sales person for Mustang Computers. He was preceded in death by his mother Jenny Crane Couch in 2011, and his paternal grandfather, Alvin Couch in 1992. Wayne was a member of Revival Baptist Church. Surviving Wayne are: his father Ron Couch of Young Harris, GA, paternal grandmother, Nell Couch of Buford, GA, maternal grandparents, Curtis and Inez Crane of Flowery Branch, GA, uncles, Royce Couch, of Buford, GA, Ricky Crane and Glen Crane of Flowery Branch, aunts, Judy Sewell of Gainesville, GA, Joy Davis of Buford, GA, special 1st cousin, Tyler Crane, of Flowery Branch, GA, special friends, Tony Armour, Danny Gaddis, and Rodney Stewart, many other relatives and friends and a host of church family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Revival Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Seay, Rev. Tim Renshaw and Rev. Terry Hagwood officiating. Music will be by Terry and Marie Hagwood and Tim Renshaw family. Pallbearers will be Danny Gaddis, Rodney Stewart, Jimmy Chastain, Sammy Hughes, Dwayne Major and Sheldon Henderson. Honorary pallbearer will be Tyler Crane. Interment will be in Revival Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening after 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Frank Dockery, age 73, of Arch Grizzle Dr, Blairsville, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011 in North East Georgia Medical Center after an extended illness. Frank was born August 5, 1938 in Murphy, NC a son of the late Homer and Roxie Cleo Anderson Dockery. He lived in Hayesville for 43 years before moving to Blairsville. Frank started pastoring in 1958, and had pastored several churches in North Carolina and Georgia. He loved his Lord and his family. Frank had done wood crafts at the Folk School for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by daughter, Shirley Mae Grizzle in 2006 and son, Mark Dockery in 2010. Frank was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Surviving Frank are: his wife Ruby Dockery of the home, daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Michael Noe of Cleveland, TN, son-in-law, Randy Grizzle of Blairsville, daughter-in-law, Kelly Dockery of Seneca, SC, brothers, Howard and Sue Dockery of Dalton, Jerry and Della Dockery of Murphy, Hoyt and Michelle Dockery of Gainesville, GA, Wayne and Virginia Dockery of Tallulah Falls, GA, James and Carol Dockery of Gainesville, Harold and Cynthia Dockery of Lula Falls, Oscar and Tammy Dockery of Young Harris, sisters, Pauline and Clinton Beavers of Murphy, Willie Bell Kernea of Murphy, Mary Dean and Lum Cody of Andrews, Annie Jean and Dennis Young of Young Harris, Darlene Dockery of Hayesville, Allene and Carl Edwards of Hayesville, five grandchildren Aaron, Andy, Chase, Haley and Austin. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:oo p.m. at the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Furman Wilson and Rev. Jerry Young officiating. Music will be by Eagle Mountain Quartet. Pallbearers will be Larry King, Steve Carver, Kenneth Grizzle, Robby McKim, Johnny Kernea and Jason Lee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Gilbert and Dewayne Patterson. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers make memorials to the family for medical expenses c/o United Community Bank.
