Mrs. Opal Marie Speck, age 91, of Tina’s CT, Blairsville, passed away, Thursday, December 8, 2011. Mrs. Speck was born March 17, 1920 in Four Corners, IN daughter of the late John and Pearl (Downs) Hauersperger. She moved here 4 years ago form Inverness, FL. On September 17, 1946 she married Wilfred A. Speck (2/2/1921-1/21/1978). Mrs. Speck was also preceded in death by a son Gary Speck (8/15/1950-7/21/1997, daughter-in-law, Peggy Speck in 2008, five brothers and six sisters. She was of the Catholic Faith. Survivors include children, James Speck of Inverness, FL, Susan (Speck) Tully and husband Richard of Blairsville, GA, sisters, Clara Cordelia “Tillie” (Hauersperger) Speck of St. Petersburg, FL, Elmalee Irene (Hauersperger) Barr of North Vernon, IN, Sarah Ann (Hauersperger) of Seymour, IN, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, great-great-great nieces and nephews, and step great nieces and nephews. No services are planned. In lieu of flowers make memorials to the Union County Nursing Home Activities Fund. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Dennis Carl Pissott, age 59, of Cedar Lane , Blairsville, passed away, Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Union General Hospital . Dennis moved to this area 2 ½ years ago from Snellville , GA. He was born in Bellville , NJ , September 28, 1952. Dennis was an avid baseball card collector. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl F. Pissott. Dennis was a member of St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Deborah Pissott of Blairsville, GA, mother, Elsie Pissott of Grand Rapids, MI, children, Philip (Jessey) Pissott of Snellville, GA, Tamara Pissott and Lauren Pissott both of Hawaii, sister, Karen Bakale of Grand Rapids, MI, father-in-law, Philip Gatlin of Blairsville, sisters-in-law, Lynda Langhoff of Blairsville, Lorilee Webb of Hiawassee and Sarah Anderson of Spokane, WA, grandson, Ethan Pissott, several nieces, nephews and cousins, many other realatives and friends also survive. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Father George Kloster officiating. cancer.

Schley H. Burrell, Sr., 87, of Warwoman Road, Clayton, Georgia died Thursday December 15, 2011 at his home. Schley was born May 11, 1924 in Cornelia, Georgia to Carl and Jura Foster Burrell. He was the widower of Eloise Chapman Burrell. Schley was a retired D.O.T. Regional Engineer with the State of Georgia. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW 2, and a member of American Legion Post 220 of Clayton where he was a former Commander of Post 220. He had served two terms as a Rabun County Commissioner and was a former Rotarian. He was a member of the Clayton Baptist Church where he was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. Several years ago he served as Superintendent of the Sunday school. Besides his wife and parents, He was preceded in death by two sons; Schley H. (Sonny) Burrell, Jr. and Michael Burrell and by two brothers; Everett Burrell and Brabson Burrell. He is survived by a daughter Sherry Burrell Patrick and her husband, Mike of Alpharetta, GA., and by two brothers; Lyman Burrell of Dacula, GA., and Richard Burrell of Lilburn, GA. Six grandchildren and eleven great grand children. Funeral Services will be Sunday December 18, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Clayton Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Thompson Officiating. Burial will follow in Rabun Memory Park. The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 5 To 8 P.M. Saturday December 17, 2011. The body will be placed in the Church at 1:00 P.M. Sunday to lie in state. The Family is at the home on Warwoman, Road.
