           Mrs. Dorothy Bellande, age 91, of Melon RD, Blairsville passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 following a stroke. She was born September 3, 1920 in England daughter of the late Horace and Edith Brown. Mrs. Bellande moved here 8 years ago from Pompano Beach, FL. She was loved by her family, her many friends and her cats.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Bellande in 2003. Mrs. Bellande was of the Catholic faith and had attended St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Pompano Beach, Florida.

            Survivors include her loving daughter, Barbara Rizzitello of Blairsville, and daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Lemoyne Baquet of Geneva, Switzerland, grandson and wife, Todd Michael and Dawn Jayne, three great grandchildren, Conor, Kaitlyn and Haley Jayne.

            A celebration of life service will be held this spring. In lieu of flowers make memorials to the Mountain Shelter Humane Society or Whiskers Project.

Becky Pinter, age 52 of Blue Ridge Georgia, formerly of Blairsville Georgia went home to be with Jesus on Sunday January 22nd after an extended and bravely fought bout with cancer.  She was born on May 4th, 1959 in Youngstown Ohio. Becky accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at the age of 10 and was baptized in the River Jordan in Israel. She graduated from North Jackson High School and served in the United States Navy as an Air Traffic Controller and was discharged with honor. Most people got to know Becky as the co-owner and operator of Becky’s Country Kitchen & BBQ in Blue Ridge. She loved gospel music and she had a heart of gold. Even in her final days while spending Christmas in the hospital, she made certain that her husband got his marching orders to carry out her regular task of remembering the family for Christmas. Survivors include her loving husband of 25 years, Edell Pinter, her dogs Petra and Dixie that she loved like children, her loving parents Larry Miller and Shirley Miller of Blairsville. Siblings include sister, Noreen Kompanik and husband Michael Kompanik of San Diego California, brother Tim Miller and wife Lucia Miller of Blue Ridge, brother Jim Miller and wife Robin Miller formerly of Blairsville, and brother Duane Miller and wife Christy Miller of Blue Ridge. Nieces and nephews include Kristy Mosolino, Ryan Kompanik, Amber Miller, Angela Miller, Amanda Miller, Alex Miller, Adam Miller, Maegan Miller, Matthew Miller, Clay Miller, Chloe Miller, Trystin Miller and Agni-Deva.   

Viewing for Family and friends will be at Mountain View Funeral Home in Blairsville, Friday January 27th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral services to be held on January 28th at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel in Blairsville at 2:00 pm. Eulogies to be presented by brothers Tim Miller, Jim Miller and Duane Miller. Pall Bearers are brothers Tim Miller, Jim Miller and Duane Miller; nephews Alex Miller, Adam Miller, Matthew Miller and John Kelly; and family friend Mark Winders. Internment burial will follow funeral and be held at the Meadow View Cemetery in Blairsville. Flowers are accepted and Becky loved purple; or in lieu of, donations can be made to the Humane Society Mountain Shelter in Blairsville. We love you Becky and you will be missed. May you soar on the wings of the Angel’s.

Kenneth Curtis

           Mr. Kenneth Clay Curtis, age 52, of Birlie Deaton DR, Blairsville passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in North East Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Atlanta, GA on September 2, 1959 son of the late Herbert and Helen Watson Curtis. He had lived her for the past 22 years coming here from Marietta, GA. Kenneth loved fishing and boating. He was of the Baptist faith.

            Survivors include his best friend, Rachel Day of Blairsville, sisters, Linda and Fred Kolshorn of Fayetteville, GA and Sandra Gail Lee of Snellville, GA, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

            Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials many be made to Union County Humane Society Mountain Shelter.

Billy James Niebrand

             Mr. Billy James Niebrand, age 78, of Virginia DR, Blairsville passed away Monday, January 23, 2012, at the VA Medical Center in Decatur, GA following a brief illness. He was born July 21, 1933 in Moro, IL, son of the late Charles Albert and Hattie Fay Gregory Niebrand. Mr. Niebrand had lived here since 1995. He was an avid sportsman, a Korean War US Army veteran who loved his country and was very Patriotic. He never met a stranger. He was of the Methodist Faith.

            Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia Niebrand of Blairsville, two children, Bradley Niebrand of Hawkinsville, GA and Faye and Calvin Lowe of Hawkinsville, GA, sister, Gloria Pizzi of Benlad, IL, grandchildren, Justin Niebrand, Tyler Niebrand, Ashley Bailey, Brian and Niki Cason, Kelly and Justin Cason, great grandchildren, Carly Cason and Kerrington Cason, several nieces, nephews, cousins, adopted families, many other relatives and friends also survive.

            Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2012 at House of Prayer Church with Rev. Joe Nickerson officiating. Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers make memorials to the Wounded Warriors Project or Korean War Veterans.
